Today I spent quite a while struggling to find drivers for a new Dell XPS 15 laptop. My client purchased one of the new laptops from Dell. Dell no longer offers Windows 7 on that laptop. Of course, the first thing I do is to remove the standard HDD and insert an Intel 530 SSD. We then buy an OEM version of 64-bit Windows 7 Pro and install it on the SSD.
Once a clean installation of Windows 7 Pro is done, it's time to load all of the drivers. Between downloading the recent versions from Intel and nVidia for all that I can, I go to Dell's site for the remaining drivers. But one device remained without drivers, and it was the USB 3.0 ports.
I tried to download the USB 3.0 drivers from the previous generation of XPS 15s, but that failed. I searched the net and couldn't find anything on this newer version of the laptops. After an hour, I relented and contacted Dell's tech support via chat.
After a while, Mr. Botkin came back with the info that the Precision M3800 Workstation is close and it still offers Windows 7 support. He sent me the link to those drivers and they worked perfectly.
Here is the link for you to get there right away. I hope this saves someone some headaches.
